PETG Filament, Made in USA

Pro PETG is our everyday PETG filament for functional parts: brackets, enclosures, planters, bins, fixtures and anything that has to handle more heat and moisture than PLA. PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol) is a glycol-modified cousin of the PET in water bottles, and PETG parts bend before they break.

We make it in Fargo, North Dakota from 100% virgin PETG resin. It prints almost as easily as PLA, with strong layer bonds, almost no warping and very little odor, and it needs no enclosure.

Available on 1 kg and 4 kg spools that fit the Bambu Lab AMS. Wondering how much heat and sun PETG can take? Here are the real limits. Need tougher parts, more heat or outdoor use? Step up to Pro PCTG.

PETG, tough PLA or PCTG?

Pro PETG is the easy all-rounder for parts that see some heat, moisture or sun. If your PETG parts crack, warp near heat or live outside year-round, step up to Pro PCTG. For stiff, detailed indoor parts, Tough Pro PLA+ is easier still.

What is PETG filament?

PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol) is glycol-modified PET, a close cousin of the plastic in water bottles. It prints at higher temperatures than PLA and gives parts that bend before they break, resist moisture and handle more heat. Pro PETG is made from 100% virgin PETG resin in Fargo, North Dakota.

Is PETG stronger than PLA?

For most functional parts, yes. PETG is less brittle than standard PLA: it bends before it breaks and handles more heat and moisture. PLA is stiffer and holds fine detail better. If you want PLA's easy printing with more impact toughness, Tough Pro PLA+ has 8.8x the impact toughness of our Standard PLA+. Compare PLA, PETG and PCTG.

What temperature should I print PETG at?

Print Pro PETG at 245-265 °C with the bed at 70-80 °C and speeds of 50-150 mm/s. It runs a little hotter than some PETGs: use the top of the range for fast prints or a glossier finish. A matte, rough surface usually means it's too cold for the speed.

Do I need to dry PETG?

Yes, even a new spool. Dry Pro PETG at 65 °C for 8-12 hours before printing and store it sealed with desiccant. Wet PETG strings, pops and prints weak layers.

Is PETG food safe?

The Pro PETG base resin is certified for food contact in the US, EU, China, Japan and Korea. A printed part isn't automatically food safe, because bacteria can collect in layer lines, so seal or coat parts meant for food.

How much heat can PETG take?

Pro PETG has a heat deflection temperature of 72 °C at 0.45 MPa and about 62 °C under heavier load. For parts that sit in a hot car or near a motor, step up to Pro PCTG, or to Pro PCTG-CF or GF for the most heat. Shop Pro PCTG.

Do I need an enclosure for PETG?

No. Pro PETG prints on an open-frame printer with almost no warping. Textured PEI works best; on smooth PEI use glue stick as a release layer so parts don't pull up the surface.

Does Pro PETG work in the Bambu Lab AMS?

Yes. The 1 kg spool fits the AMS. Start from a generic PETG profile and raise the nozzle temperature into the 245-265 °C range.

PETG or PCTG: which should I use?

Use Pro PETG for everyday functional parts. Choose Pro PCTG when parts need more impact toughness, more heat or chemical resistance, or will live outdoors: it has about 2x the UV resistance of Pro PETG. PCTG vs PETG.
