Validated Pro PCTG Material Data Powers Physics-Based Thermal Simulation for Faster, More Reliable Prints in Bambu Studio
Helio Additive, known for its physics-driven process simulation and optimisation technology, today announced a strategic partnership with 3D-Fuel, a premier US-based manufacturer of high-quality 3D printer filaments.
The collaboration introduces validated material data for Pro PCTG into Helio’s physics-based thermal simulation and optimisation engine, enabling the prediction and mitigation of heat-related issues for parts printed with the material in Bambu Studio. This collaboration builds on Helio Additive’s earlier integration into Bambu Studio, which brought physics-based simulation and optimisation directly into the slicer.
Pro PCTG is a copolyester filament developed by 3D-Fuel for reliable extrusion-based 3D printing. It combines strong mechanical performance, chemical resistance, and ease of printing, making it suitable for functional parts and applications where durability and dimensional stability are critical.
With Pro PCTG added to Helio Additive’s material library, users can now use HelioAdditive in Bambu Studio to achieve faster print times and avoid thermal-related issues such as warping, residual stress, and delamination before printing begins. This enables more consistent and reliable results with Pro PCTG across a wide range of part geometries and applications.
“We want to see people 3D printing with powerful engineering materials like Pro PCTG,” said David Hartmann, CEO at Helio Additive. “Working with 3D-Fuel, and adding Pro PCTG to our material library, is very much a part of this mission.”
John Schneider, CEO at 3D-Fuel, commented:
“Helio’s simulation and optimization tool analyzes material properties to enhance 3D printing. Pro PCTG is already a significant functional material upgrade over PETG filaments in terms of impact toughness, chemical resistance, UV resistance, layer bonding, and more. By characterizing our material, Helio can optimize print speed and part strength in Bambu Studio to further improve reliability and functionality. We’re proud to be the first non-Bambu Lab, non-Polymaker material in this partnership, promising faster, stronger prints.”
This integration reflects a shared commitment to improving the reliability of desktop additive manufacturing through data-driven process control.
Users can immediately access the Pro PCTG profiles and begin simulating and optimizing their prints in Bambu Studio.

Helio Additive builds physics-driven simulation and optimisation software that makes 3D printing more reliable, scalable, and predictable. Its thermal-physics engine enables users to simulate print outcomes in advance, identify issues before they occur, and reduce dependence on trial-and-error workflows. By connecting material behaviour to real process conditions, Helio helps 3D printing users - both consumers and manufacturers - produce consistent, high-quality parts and unlock the full potential of high-performance materials across desktop and industrial systems.
3D-Fuel is a US-based manufacturer of high-quality 3D printer filaments committed to innovation and sustainability. Located in Fargo, North Dakota, 3D-Fuel develops advanced materials like Pro PCTG to provide the 3D printing community with filaments that offer superior mechanical properties, ease of use, and reliable performance.
