Our Tough Pro PLA+ is the best PLA filament for 3D printing your most demanding projects. When you're looking for a tough PLA with excellent temperature resistance that prints as smooth as butter, 3D-Fuel Tough Pro PLA+ is the material for you.

Manufactured in the US from genuine NatureWorks™ 3D870 Ingeo PLA, Tough Pro PLA+ offers a third-generation level of material engineering for 3D printing. Since it's a NatureWorks PLA material, it's a sustainably sourced bio-plastic with an incredible eco-profile.

Tough Pro PLA+ Boasts 8.8x The Impact Toughness Of PLA+

Test parts were 3D printed on a Bambu Lab X1C at 0.2mm layer height with no annealing. A 1kg standard weight was used for the drop test.

The video plays at 12.5% of real-time speed.

Tough Pro PLA+ has higher impact strength than ABS and Standard PLA+ with a heat resistance that rivals that of ABS. That's even before any post-processing.

Tough Pro PLA+ was designed with the high impact strength needed in industrial applications to meet the growing demand for a material with the properties of ABS and the printability of PLA.

Heat Resistance Comparison

You can anneal your design after 3D printing for even better heat resistance and impact toughness.

One of the big questions we often get about Tough Pro PLA+ is about heat resistance, especially in a scenario like a hot car.

You can gain the maximum heat resistance by annealing your 3D print (furthest print from camera), but that's not always practical or feasible to do, especially as the part shrinks 1-2% during the annealing process and needs to be tightly constrained in a gypsum or salt flour to reduce warping.

But, even without annealing, you can see that the Tough Pro PLA+ part resists heat much better than the Standard PLA+ (nearest to the camera). In some ways, in this test, the Tough Pro PLA+ part (middle part) is partially annealing in the temperature ramp-up. This is why customers state that it can work great even in a hot car in the desert of Arizona!

Filament Quality:
All 3D-Fuel 3D printer filament is manufactured in United States production facilities.  We have exceptional control over the manufacturing process and can ensure consistent quality for every spool.

Learn more about 3D-Fuel filament quality.

Diameter Tolerance:
Our filament diameter tolerance is +/- 0.02 mm.

High filament diameter variability can cause significant problems in your 3D printer. We use a multi-axis laser measurement system to control our filament diameter and ovality in real time during production.

Packing Information:
A full 1kg (2.2lbs) of Tough Pro PLA+ plastic filament arrives on an easy-to-use plastic AMS-compatible spool and is vacuum sealed with a desiccant packet to keep out any moisture.

Test Printing:
The 3D-Fuel test lab features multiple brands of 3D printers including Bambu LabRaise3D, MakerBot, LulzBot, Prusa, Creality, and more. We 3D print what we manufacture to ensure that our filament provides the best quality possible.
