What is tough PLA?

PLA that's made to absorb impact instead of snapping. Ours is made from NatureWorks Ingeo 3D870, a grade designed for 3D printing, with higher impact and heat performance than standard PLA.

Is Tough Pro PLA+ the same as PLA Pro or PLA+?

"PLA+" and "PLA Pro" have no fixed definition. Brands use them for anything from standard PLA with additives to engineered grades, so we name our resin. Tough Pro PLA+ was previously sold as Pro PLA+. PLA vs PLA+ vs PLA Pro vs Tough PLA.

What is the strongest PLA filament?

For impact, an engineered tough PLA. Tough Pro PLA+ has 8.8x the impact toughness of our Standard PLA+ in a drop test. If you need more toughness, outdoor use or heat resistance without annealing, step up to Pro PCTG.

Is tough PLA better than PETG?

It's stiffer, easier to print and holds fine detail better. PETG and Pro PCTG win outdoors, above 60 °C and around chemicals. Tough PLA vs PETG.

How hot can Tough Pro PLA+ get?

It softens around 55-60 °C as printed. Annealed at 110-120 °C, parts hold 75-85 °C. How to anneal Tough Pro PLA+.

Does it work in the Bambu Lab AMS?

Yes. The 1 kg spool is AMS-compatible, and we have free print profiles for Bambu Lab printers. Tough Pro PLA+ print profiles.

Do I need an enclosure or special settings?

No enclosure. Print at 230-250 °C, hotter for faster prints, with the bed at 0-60 °C. A generic PLA profile usually runs too cool for it, so start from our profiles.
