What Makes Pro PCTG "Pro"?

3D-Fuel uses a high-CHDM-content PCTG resin formulation to produce a high-performance, professional-grade PCTG filament.

CHDM (cyclohexane dimethanol) is the component of Pro PCTG that provides high impact toughness, chemical resistance, UV resistance, temperature resistance, and lower moisture absorption.

PCTG and PETG are on the same copolyester spectrum as Tritan, the super-tough material used in Nalgene water bottles. If PETG is on the low end of the spectrum and Tritan is on the high end of the spectrum, Pro PCTG is about 2/3 of the way to Tritan, but with a lower cost than Tritan.

Many other PCTG filaments on the market use a resin with a lower percentage of CHDM than 3D-Fuel Pro PCTG, so the others tend to be more like a really nice PETG than a true PCTG.

Pro PCTG → Print Settings + Profiles

Find your Pro PCTG profile here.

At 3D-Fuel, we're working to develop Pro PCTG profiles for as many popular 3D printers as possible, but unfortunately, we're unable to cover every single 3D printer brand, model, and upgrade permutation.

We have our developed profiles available here for download, but if you have a 3D printer we don't have a profile for yet, you can easily create one using the steps below:

  • Start with a PETG profile
  • Increase hotend temp to 250-280C
  • Set textured PEI bed temp to 80C
  • Decrease cooling fan speeds as low as possible
  • No enclosure needed but, if you have one, close the lid and doors
  • If your enclosure is heated, 45C is a good temperature.
  • Calibrate your pressure advance settings
  • Enable a wipe move after retraction
Drying + Storing Instructions

Dry filament is happy filament!

If your dryer can reach 70C, dry at 70C. Otherwise, dry at 65C for a longer period.
Drying Temp: 70C
Drying Time: 6-8 hours

Drying Temp: 65C
Drying Time: 8-12 hours

Please store Pro PCTG in an airtight container with desiccant when possible. Even though Pro PCTG absorbs moisture more slowly than PETG, it will still absorb moisture over time.

Wet filament can cause a poor surface finish on your printed part and may even contribute to nozzle clogging.

Pro PCTG, Natural, 1.75mm

Pro PCTG takes everything you love about PETG and makes it better: 8-12x tougher, more chemically resistant, and clearer. It offers exceptional impact strength, making it perfect for functional parts, prototypes, and demanding applications. With low moisture absorption, it prints reliably without warping or brittleness. With a wide range of colors, 3D-Fuel Pro PCTG has the color you need for your 3D printing projects.

ReFuel! Great Deal, Great Filament

"This 3D‑printed LED lamp core is a great showcase for recycled PCTG. The translucent yellow filament diffuses light evenly while still letting the internal structure show through, giving it a modern, warm glow rather than a harsh hotspot. The vertical ribbing and rectangular cutouts add visual interest and help break up the light, so it looks good both lit and unlit. Dimensional accuracy appears solid and the cylinder sits cleanly in its base and the walls look uniform with no obvious warping or layer adhesion issues. Overall, it’s a clean, functional print that makes smart use of recycled material and feels like a sturdy, practical piece for an LED ambient lamp project."

Made the switch to Pro PCTG

"I'd primarily printed with PLA and made a few attempts at getting into PETG. Because of spool compatibility with AMS and available printer profiles, I decided to try PCTG and I'm glad I did. I have two printers and one is almost exclusively printing PCTG projects now. I did dial in the printing profiles for my setup and results, but the 3D Fuel profiles were a great starting point. I switched my AMS silica boxes over to PCTG too."

Refuel is a risk, not always a reward

"Refuel, I understood the risks of not knowing what colors you would get. The first time I received 5 spools in different blues and greens. So when I ordered 11 spools and they were all identical grape purple, I’m still disappointed even knowing the risks. I’m not sure I will do this again, the price that drew me to it isn’t worth sitting on 11kg of grape purple."

Zach Y. (2/5)

Better than PETG. Deep rich colors and consistency

"This has become my new go‑to filament since I got into the hobby. It improves on PETG in most of the ways that matter, but without the usual stringing or finicky print behavior. The Benchy shown was printed on a Bambu H2D at 0. 16 mm layer height, before I even calibrated or dried the filament, and it still came out with clean lines, consistent extrusion, and a deep, rich color. I’m already planning to buy more. I’d love to grab one of every color they make, but I’m forcing myself to show a little restraint."

John K. (5/5)

Amazing color and finish

"The 3D-Fuel Pro PCTG just looks good clean lines, rich color, and that nice wet gloss that makes the parts feel a step up from basic PETG or PLA. The yellow Refuel lattice cup has this almost injection-molded vibe: the pattern is sharp, the walls are even, and the gloss catches light in a way that makes the geometry pop instead of hiding it. The Grape Purple and Toolbox Teal pieces show off how well this filament takes pigment, solid, saturated color with no chalkiness, plus a smooth sheen that runs consistently across curved and flat surfaces. Overall, it has that “premium plastic part” look, glossy where you want it, crisp edges, and a finish that makes even simple utility parts feel like product, not just 3D prints."

3D-Fuel Gun Metal Blue PCTG Review

"3D-Fuel’s Gun Metal Blue PCTG is the standout of this print. It delivers a rich, dark blue-gray tone that reads almost like powder-coated metal under normal lighting, while still preserving enough depth and sheen to make the surface visually interesting. On a large, flat-sided functional print like this case, the color remains consistent and avoids looking washed out or overly glossy. Printed on a Bambu H2D with a 0. 06 HF Tungsten Carbide nozzle using the latest 3D-Fuel PCTG profile, the filament produced impressively uniform walls and clean, sharply defined features. The broad exterior panels show controlled extrusion and a refined layer finish, while small functional areas hinges, latch mounts, edge details, and the interior retain crisp geometry without obvious roughness or inconsistent texture. The material is especially well suited to parts that need to look engineered rather than decorative. Gun Metal Blue PCTG gives the finished case a durable, industrial appearance, and it does so without hiding the quality of the print beneath excessive gloss. The result is a strong example of why PCTG is such an appealing choice for substantial functional prints."

PCTG Refuel

"3D Fuel has the best PCTG on the market. When I am building functional parts for the shop and don't care what color they are this ReFuel PCTG Filament is a steal for pricing, and it makes me feel good about helping 3DFuel not just waste filament. Great company, Great products."

Bill V. (5/5)

LIKE this product and company

"Thanks to John for his help getting me going with PCTG. I think I've found my foundational filament. I am truly impressed with the company and their product. There are only a few other people in my area using printers, but they are sure going to here about this company and their product. This coming from someone who hates writing reviews and recommending something I like to other people."

Charles B. (5/5)

The best

"10/10 product, once you dial everything in with the provided profiles there isn't a better filament out there. This white is perfect for anything where you need a true clean white. John replying to questions you may have in the discord is just an added benefit."

Chris F. (5/5)

Fantastic stuff

"Re-Fuel prints just like the normal PCTG, i. e. excellently, and it’s a great value when color isn’t important. My understanding is that it’s mis-tints and color transitions, so you really could get anything. I’ve received dull gold, purple, untinted (i. e. , more or less clear) transitioning to gray mid-roll, and orange."
